Philly 15th endorses Erika Almirón for City Council At-Large. The daughter of South American immigrants, Almirón’s lived and professional experience make her uniquely qualified to be a councilmember. She is a longtime and well-respected organizer in Philly’s Latinx community who helped design the city’s sanctuary city policy and end the city’s cooperation with ICE. 

Her focus on environmental justice, immigrant rights, students’ rights, and on supporting the needs of low-income Philadelphians in general is exemplary. There is currently only one Latinx member of City Council. As the first at-large Latina City Council member, Almirón will provide a much-needed voice for a community that makes up almost 20% of Philly’s population.
